Shimla is one of the most visited hill stations in North India. The Capital of Himachal is also known as Hill Queen and used to be the Summer Capital of India during the British Raj.

Are you planning a trip to Shimla from Delhi? The temperatures in Delhi ranges between 30 to 45 degrees during summers. The schools are also closed and in May and June months. Shimla is one of the best places to beat the heat during summers. You can enjoy your vacation with your family and kids at Shimla away from the scorching heat of Delhi.

You can reach Shimla by air, train or by road. Flights from Delhi to Shimla are available daily. Shatabadi Express and other fast trains run from Delhi to Kalka. From Kalka you can board the toy train to Shimla that run through the lush green mountains and passes through over hundred tunnels during the amazing journey. Though it takes around 5 hours from Kalka to Shimla but your kids would enjoy this trip.

Express Bypass from Zirakpur to Parwanoo
Now after opening of the new Express Highway by pass to Shimla your travel time from Delhi to Shimla will be reduced by over one hour. Now you don't have to go via congested Kalka and Pinjore. You can now take Express Bypass from Zirakpur and will reach Parwanoo bypassing Pinjore and Kalka where the tourists used to struggle for over one hour in huge traffic Jams.

To reach Shimla from Delhi you need to take GT Karnal Road. You will reach Ambala via Panipat, Karnal Kurukshetra. After reaching Ambala leave the GT Karnal road and take Chandigarh Highway. You do not have to go to Chandigarh. Just before entering Chandigarh take the route to Shimla from Zirakpur. Take the express highway bypass to avoid traffic and save at least 1 hour.
