Government Polytechnic College in Kangra HP was established in 1992. Basically it was a Junior Technical School which was set up way back in 1959 by then Punjab Govt. It was in 1992 upgraded into a Polytechnic College.

Government polytechnic College Kanga is one of the reputated institutions in Himachal Pradesh and is continuously, year after year has been able to produce and provide professionally skillful, technically competent, and socially relevant human resources to cater to the industrial requirements. GPC Kangra is one of the few institutes which has acquired the ISO 9000-2001 certification.

The Kangra Polytechnic College is religiously imparting 3 year diploma courses in the promising and budding areas of technology like Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering and Mechanical Engineering

Himachal Pradesh Elections 2012 - Congress Candidates

The congress under the leadership of former CM Virbhadra Singh is hoping to come back to power again this time. Though the CM candidate has not been announced yet by the congress but speculations are already on for the next CM in the party. The congress party in Himachal has tried its best to give the party tickets to the best possible candiadtes but many of the workers are not happy who were denied the party tickets. Some of them have left the party and are contesting independently. Major Vijay Singh Mankotia's inclusion was surprising but he has raised some hopes for the congress against Sarveen Choudhary of BJP in Shahpur constituency.

HIPA or The Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration came into existence on Jan 1, 1974. It is located at one of the most beautiful places known as FAIRLAWNS, near Shimla. The distance of HIPA from Shimla is 12 kms. towards Mashobara road. The breathtaking and enthralling beauty of HIPA is due to its location amidst the natural and picturesque surroundings. The campus of HIPA or The Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration has spacious and luxuriant lawns. The building of HIPA or The Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration initially got constructed by Mr. R. Dixon of the foreign office of British India.

It was later bought by Nawab Muzaffar Ali Khan Quizzalbash of Malerkotla. After partition in 1947 this property was taken over by Government of Punjab State, which later converted it into a Circuit Hous. Subsequently in November, 1966 this property was transferred to Government of Himachal Pradesh which later on decided to set up an Institute.

HIPA or The Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration is now a full-blown training institution having all the facilities.
